Season Launch

On the 23rd March Nottingham Playhouse had their season launch. This involved different departments within Nottingham Playhouse presenting their plans for the coming season. The Cutting Room talked about the up and coming exhibitions and did very well when answering the spontaneous Q&A that followed their presentation. I found it interesting to be able to put what we are doing in context, drawing parallels between the topics explored in the plays and the themes that our exhibitions examine. The season launch in general was an aspect that I haven't been involved in before. It was exciting to meet the artist after all the work we have been doing with images of the piece. I also started working with Photoshop this week and designed a banner for the way forward exhibition. This was something I wanted to expand on within the Internship role and so was happy to be able to experiment more with the programme.

CAST bar programme poster

Digital Stage is offering someone the opportunity to receive a £500 commission on a new film. This is open to all those who submit to any of the following exhibitions: The Way Forward, Dual and Play. This will be a great chance for anyone interested in film to show in the CAST bar, situated at the fore of the Nottingham Playhouse. Anyone who is interested in possibly submitting to any of the exhibitions, please check the Cutting Room website for more information and application forms.

As well as designing the poster for the CAST bar programme opportunity, I have been busy completing the rest of the Origins film screening proposal which will give cinemas and other institutions the chance to show the Origins selection of artists films.

Playhouse Spaces

On Monday I was taking photos of the space in Nottingham Playhouse. We will be using these photos to make an information leaflet for the Artists so they have a better idea of the location. We also booked tickets to the Future Everything Festival on the 16th May. The festival 'allows artists, musicians, technologists and future-thinkers to share, innovate and bring the future into the present.' This will be our first outing as a group and I am very excited about it! On the marketing side of things, the mailchimp mailing list is ongoing. I aim to finish it by the time I am next in the office. Remember to keep an eye out for information on how to subscribe on our website. Also, follow us on twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with all our latest events! http://www.facebook.com/thecuttingr00m and https://twitter.com/#!/TheCUTTINGR00M

Working on Origins

Today I was busy with collating data from the recent Origins screening in December, which will be touring soon. From the questionnaires that were collected from this screening, I set out the information in a table on Excel to evaluate the results. After this, I was busy reformatting the Origins information handout, that will need to be sent around, and the text made more legible.

Here's a small preview of the edited handout I completed today:

It has been our first day in the office as a whole team, Clare was finally able to join us today. We are planning a cutting room outing to Manchester in May, to see the 'Future Everything' Festival. It's really exciting, and we've heard we get free tickets to Romeo and Juliet at the Playhouse for attending the season launch. The perks of the job just keep getting better!

Dual : New Graphics

We've been busy doing odd jobs and a bit of everything. I got my hands on designing the new web banners for the second exhibition: Dual. This exhibition will concern issues around avatars and digital identities.

Look our for announcements for this upcoming exhibition, information about submitting work for this event are already live on the cutting room website if you are interested in participating.
